Peter and John Heal a Crippled Man
Activity: Now that they were filled with the
Holy Spirit, the disciples could do miracles much like Jesus did. Our story
today describes miracles that happened at the temple gate. Read/tell the story of the crippled
beggar found in Acts 3:1–10.
Do you know why the crippled man had to beg for money? (He couldn’t work to
earn money so he had to rely on others to give him what he needed to live.)
Did Peter and John give the man any money? (No.) What did they do for him?
(v6 and v7: They healed him so he could walk; they healed him so that he
could work and make his own money; etc.) Who really healed the man? (God/the
Holy Spirit.) Why did the man jump and shout and praise God? (Because he was
happy; because he could walk; because God had healed him; because he was
full of joy; etc.) The man in the story jumped for joy because he was
healed. Have you ever jumped for joy?? What sort of things make you feel
happy and joyful?? Let’s remember to thank God for all the wonderful things
He does that bring us joy.
Additional Activity: Print the word "JOY" in block
letters on a sheet of construction paper. Tear three quarter-sheets of
different-colored construction paper into small pieces. Glue the colorful
pieces of torn construction paper on the letters to make a mosaic. Use this
as a reminder to thank God for all the joy He puts in our lives.
Prayer Focus: Thank you for the joy that is in my
life.

Months of the Year
Activity: Using twelve sheets of white paper,
write a month of the year on each sheet. Discuss each month beginning with
January, talking about special holidays, birthdays, and other activities
found in a particular month (for example, January is the beginning of a new
year, it is usually snowy, and Dad has a birthday). Then have your child cut
out or draw some of the activities from each month. When finished, mix up
the papers and help him to sequence them January through December.

CHARACTER BUILDING
Respect 1
Activity:
Respect means "treating a person as if
their needs are more important than our own." Lets look at some scriptures
to see who God wants us to respect: Leviticus 19:3 (our mother and
father), Leviticus 19:32 (older people and God), Ephesians 5:32
(a wife must respect her husband), Ephesians 6:5 (people with
authority over us—pastors, teachers, bosses, etc.), and 1 Peter 2:17
(everyone). What are some ways we can show respect for other people? (By
obeying without complaining; by doing our best job when asked to do
something, by saying kind things to/about others; by helping others; by
trusting others; etc.)
MEMORY VERSE
1 Peter 2:17; Show proper respect to everyone. Love the brotherhood of
believers.
